Meet TransTechs Maintenance Technician Recruiter, Ryan Hair!
Ryan Hair is a TransTechs recruiter, recruiting for diesel and general maintenance positions. Ryan is a Chicagoland native and an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Ryan enjoys tinkering on his cars, shooting hoops and spending time with his two dogs.

How did you get into Maintenance recruiting?
When I first got out of college, I had difficulties finding work. I decided to get into recruiting because I can relate to the feeling of looking for work and not knowing where to turn. I wanted to be able to help others with their job search because I feel I can really connect with working men and women and their search for jobs.
I hear you have won a few awards, tell me about them.
I have been awarded Recruiter of month, TrueBlue Circle of Excellence award, and Rookie Recruiter of the year. It was very humbling to be honored and I am thankful that I can help so many mechanics find jobs.
Tell me about your candidate base? Who are the people you talk to everyday?
I am talking to people who are turning their jobs into careers. People trying to find their way in the ever changing, fast growing diesel mechanic Industry. I speak to experienced mechanics, entry level mechanics, transitioning military members, and really anyone who is looking for work as a mechanic.
What is important for a Technician to know?
About the job – It’s important to know what they are working on. What type of repairs will they be doing? If there is any travel, if the work is in a shop or mobile. If they are required to be on call. Those are some of the top things I ensure a mechanic knows about the job that they are applying for.
About the job site – is it a new shop? Is it clean? Is there storage for tools? What are the conditions like? Is the work inside or outside?
About you – That building trust is a priority for me. I want my mechanics to know that I am always there for them at any time. I don’t want anyone to ever hesitate to ask questions, now, in the future, or at any time.

Tell me a success story.
A mechanic that I placed a few years ago is now a manager and our customer.
Give me an example of how you have assisted our customers by thinking outside of the box.
We had a contractor desperately looking for work in Michigan to be with his family. He was in Tennessee doing contract work and I searched hard for him. Ultimately I was able to work with one of our customers in Michigan to work out a position that would fit his needs and skills. He was able to be back home and with his family and our customer got a motivated, skilled technician who is still there to this day. Not only did this highly benefit our mechanic, but the customer as well.
Are there Technicians who are loyal to you and TransTechs?
We recently placed a tech with a city job. We had placed him 4 times throughout his career working short term contract and direct positions. He always trusted in TransTechs that we would be able to get him a steady job with the best pay rate possible. He is very pleased at this placement and has found his right fit at a long term job.
Tell me your funniest recruiting moment.
I had a mechanic that showed up a week early for the interview and still got the job. He was eager and sure showed it. It paid off because it was a highly sought after job and I am glad we found the right fit for our customer and our employee.
